Benefits of Serving on the Board

It is an exciting time to join the chapter’s leadership team and help chart a course for continued growth and impact. Board service offers the opportunity to:

Board Responsibilities

The nine-member ACMP DC board of directors is responsible for determining the strategic direction of the chapter, providing operational oversight, and governing the organization. Individual board members participate in the governance of the association, lead/participate in committees and task forces, volunteer time and talent to support the strategic direction of the chapter, and serve as ambassadors for the chapter.

Eligibility

To be considered eligible for service on the board, applicants must be a member in good standing of the ACMP DC Chapter for a minimum of six months prior to the start of the new board year in April. That means, if you have been a chapter member since October 1, 2019, you are eligible!

Board Member Capacity and Time Commitments

Being an all-volunteer led association, ACMP DC benefits from the generosity of members sharing their time to serve. We ask that you consider your capacity to take on a board role amidst other personal and professional commitments. For the sake of both you and the chapter, we ask that you do not over commit yourself. While time commitments vary based on role, interest and project priorities, board members participate in bi-weekly board meetings via phone/web (1-hour), periodic in person/phone strategy sessions, committee meetings, and chapter events/activities. All board and committee meetings include preparation time, follow-up, and various action items assigned. This represents a minimum of approximately 15 hours per month.

Commitment to Board Standards and Code of Ethics

BOD members must adhere to the ACMP Change Management Code of Ethics and all of ACMP-DC’s rules, procedures and standards, and its equal opportunities policy in relation to volunteers, clients and affiliate organizations (i.e. ACMP Global.)
